Itinerary (Sarchu - Leh - Uleytokpo - Pangong - Nubra Valley)
Day 1: Manali - Sarchu (222 kms - 10 hrs)
After early breakfast, depart for Jespa. En route cross the Rohtang Pass (3980 Mts. ASL) via Koksar (stop for passport check) Sisu Falls Keylong, the district headquarters of Keylong Valley. Continue by drive toBaralachla-la (4892 Mts. ASL). Arrive at Sarchu and check-into camp for all meals and overnight stay.
Day 2: Sarchu - Leh
After breakfast, transfer to Leh en route viewing the magnificent Zanskar Range. Continue your drive throughNaklila Lachungla Pass (5060 Mts. ASL), stop at Pang for passport check. Proceed through Tanglangla Pass(5330 Mts. ASL) and continue to Leh by the Indus River. On arrival, check into hotel for all meals and overnight stay.
Day 3: Leh - Uleytokpo (70 kms – One way / 3040 mtrs)
Depart from Leh for Uleytokpo, en route visiting the village of Nimo, photostop at River ZanskarBasgo Fort &Likir Monastery. Likir is owned by the Ge-Lung-Pa sect and also provides a school for young Lamas. Move over to watch the Indus River and post-lunch proceed by drive to Alchi Gompa, which is also known as Chos-Kor or Religious Enclave. It has five Buddha temples with fine woodcarvings, other artworks as well as murals dating from 11th and 12th centuries. Arrive at Uleytokpo and check-into resort for overnight stay.
Day 4: Uleytokpo - Leh
After refreshments early morning, visit Rizong Monastery, which has a monastery as well as nunnery. Return to camp for breakfast. Depart for Leh, en route visiting Phyang Monastery (17 kms from Leh), which was built by Tashi Namgyal in 16th century AD and belongs to the Red Cap Sect of Buddhists. Have an early lunch and continue to Leh. On arrival, check into hotel and spend the day at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Leh - Pangong (290 km Oneway)
After early breakfast, transfer to Pangong Lake. Pass through Changla Pass (5486 mtrs) and enjoy the views of the villages below the pass. En route a picnic lunch is organised at Tsoltak, the summer pastureland of the yaks. Arrive at Durbuk and take another short drive to the western shore of the lake. Post dinner, stay overnight at hotel / camp in Pangong.
Day 6: Leh - Nubra (155 Kms One way)
After early breakfast, depart for Nubra Valley from Leh. En route pass through Horzey & Gangles Village. Move on to Khardungla Pass (5602 Mts.) the World's Highest Motorable Road to enjoy a bird's-eye view of the Leh town. Stop for a picnic lunch at Khardong village and proceed another 35 kms to Khalsar at Shyok Valley, which is known for its natural beauty. Cross the Khalsar Bridge at Shyok River and enter Nubra Valley. Proceed by the Nubra River by afternoon to arrive at Tegar, or Kyegar as it is locally called. All meals and overnight stay in tents at Lhari-Mo North Camp at Sumur OR at Tirith Camp at Tirith. In the afternoon, visit Panamik Hot Springs, which are knowns for their rich sulphur content. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
Day 7: Nubra - Leh
After breakfast at camp, depart for Leh, stopping en route for picnic lunch. On arrival, check into hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Leh - Delhi
Transfer to Leh Airport for return journey.
